Editorial Policy
The conditions of publishing the manuscript
Journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» is published 4 times per year in electronic (online) format in the following terms: the first issue is published until 20th of March of the current year, the second issue - until 20th of June; the third issue - until 20th of September and the fourth issue - until 20th of December.
For publication in the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» previously unpublished articles in Kazakh, Russian or English are accepted which correspond to the thematic areas of the journal and designed strictly according to the requirements of the manuscript design.
The manuscript of a scientific article is submitted to the editorial board by the corresponding author (corresponding author is determined among authors of the manuscript in the presence of 2 or more co-authors). For publication in the journal, manuscripts with a volume (excluding the title, information about the authors, annotation, keywords, bibliography) of at least 1500 words and no more than 7000 words are accepted.
The manuscript must be uploaded via the electronic platform by corresponding author indicating all metadata of the article and its authors. An article by the same author (prepared individually or co-authored) can be published in the journal no more than twice during a calendar year.
Authors must submit to the editorial board an original work that has not previously been published in other publications (in print, electronic, and other open sources). The authors are responsible for the reliability, novelty, and evidence-based nature of the research results. At the stage of reviewing the manuscript by the editorial board and reviewers of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» as well as after its publication, the authors will not to submit this manuscript for consideration elsewhere.
At the stages of working with the manuscript, communication between the editorial board, corresponding author and reviewers is carried out via an electronic (online) platform, and in exceptional cases - via e-mail.
The editorial board of the journal reviews the manuscripts received from the author/authors, organizes their review and makes a decision on publication or refusal to publish. The first decision is made by the journal within two months from the date of receiving of the manuscript via the electronic platform.
The author(s) of the manuscript approved for publication in the journal must pay for the publication in accordance with the approved price list of the cost of publication in scientific journals of al-Farabi Kazakh National University published on the journal's website. A receipt for payment for publication in pdf format is sent by the author (s) to the e-mail address of the journal's editorial office.
Borrowing and plagiarism
Editorial board «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» when reviewing a manuscript for compliance with formal requirements (registration of the manuscript) also checks for the presence of borrowed text in the manuscript through the plagiarism verification system, which is available through a University subscription or on the basis of a national subscription.
Only original manuscripts and/or those that have been checked by the anti-plagiarism system for more than 75% of originality are sent for further review. If the manuscript does not meet the requirements for registration in the journal and is not an original work based on the results of the plagiarism check, the manuscript is returned to corresponding author to make appropriate changes and re-send the manuscript for review by the editorial board via the electronic platform of the journal.
If the authors used the works, articles, statements, or quotations and statements of other researchers when writing the manuscript, they must refer to the works of these scientists and correctly formalize the cited text. Plagiarism is considered an unethical act that violates the principles of the code of ethics of a scientist of al-Farabi KazNU and is unacceptable in the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University».
Persons involved in the publishing process, especially members of the editorial board of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University», to ensure the high quality of scientific publications, to avoid unfair practices in publishing activities, such as the use of false information, falsification of data, etc., to ensure the recognition of scientific achievements by society, they undertake to comply with the principles, standards and norms of scientific ethics adopted by the international community and the al-Farabi Kazakh National University as well as to take measures to prevent such violations.
Members of the editorial board of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» undertake to prevent violations by authors, members of the editorial board, reviewers of the principles, standards of scientific ethics adopted by the international community and the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
In case of detection of violations of the principles, standards of scientific ethics, adopted by the international community and al-Farabi KazNU, the editorial board undertakes to act in accordance with the «Publication Ethics for journals of al-Farabi KazNU», the Code of ethics of the scientists of al-Farabi KazNU and standards of Committee of publication ethics (COPE).
In the case of provable fact (s) of violation of principles in an article published in the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» was discovered, standards and norms of scientific ethics, the editorial board undertakes to withdraw this article from the issue in which it was published and official web site of the journal (to effect retraction of the article) with the obligatory of indication of specific violations of the author(s) principles, standards and norms of scientific ethics and place an announcement in the next issue of the journal.
The corresponding author(s) of an article in which a provable fact of violation of the principles, standards and norms of scientific ethics was found are not allowed to submit articles to the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» and other scientific journals published by al-Farabi Kazakh National University for the next 3 calendar years from the date of detection of the fact(s) of violation of the principles, standards and norms of scientific ethics.
The review process
Manuscripts submitted to the editorial board of the journal that meet the formal requirements, design requirements, and the originality indicator based on verification through the plagiarism verification system are necessarily sent for further review. When submitting a manuscript, the author(s) have the right to indicate in the cover letter scientists who, in their opinion, will be able to evaluate it objectively.
In the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» one-sided blind review is applied, carried out by at least two scientists who have the degree of candidate of sciences, doctor of sciences, doctor of philosophy (PhD) and scientific specialization on the subject of the reviewed manuscript.
Reviewers are required to make a clear, objective and reasoned assessment of the manuscript's compliance with the main scientific criteria as well as its quality and significance.
After receiving the conclusions from reviewers, the responsible editor sends them to the corresponding author, without specifying the reviewers, data for responding to comments, making appropriate changes, and re-sending the manuscript via the electronic platform. The author(s) can refuse to respond to comments, make changes to the manuscript and re-send it which requires contacting to the editorial office of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» with a corresponding request.
After responding to all comments, making changes to the manuscript to eliminate the reviewers' comments and re-sending it to the journal editor, the scientific editor sends all materials to the reviewer(s) for re-reviewing.
The manuscript with positive conclusions from two reviewers and the responsible editor is recommended for publication in the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» according to the order of their acceptance for publication. The manuscripts approved by the editorial board are sent to the executive secretary to form the issue of the journal.
If one of the reviewers provided a positive opinion on the manuscript, and the second – a negative one, the editor responsible for the article has the right to send it to the third reviewer, or accept the manuscript for publication. If the third reviewer provides a positive conclusion, the final decision on accepting/rejecting the publication of the manuscript is made by the editor responsible for the article of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University». In case of two negative reviews, the manuscript is rejected from publication in the journal.
The materials of articles rejected by the editorial board based on the results of reviewing are not used by the editorial board for its own purposes. The editor or executive secretary notifies the author for correspondence about the refusal to publish, and sends the reviewers' conclusions.
Reviews of manuscripts are stored for three years in electronic format on the electronic platform of the journal.
The review period is set by the editor responsible for the article, but the review period is no more than 4 weeks from the date of sending the material to the reviewers.
Open access policy and archiving
Journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» provides the open access to its content on the official website of the magazine. It provides wider information access to the journal in the global scientific community.
The journal's website also provides the necessary information for authors and readers about the journal's activities: publication conditions, rules for registration and submission of manuscripts to the journal, the procedure for forming the journal and reviewing manuscripts, publication ethics, information about the editorial board, contact details of the scientific editor and executive secretary.
Readers and authors can view electronic versions of the current issue of the journal and archives for previous periods. All journal publications in electronic form are distributed free of charge and without restrictions under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
Copyright and licensing
Authors of articles of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» retain the author's right on scientific work and pass the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensing it under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
The authorship of the manuscript belongs to those researchers who participated directly in the creation of the manuscript in the conception, writing, interpretation of results and made a significant contribution in obtaining of scientific results.
Under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License, authors retain the rights to their manuscripts, while allowing everyone to freely download, reuse, reprint, change, distribute or copy them, with a mandatory mark of authorship of this work and a link to a unique publication in this journal. Permission from the authors or publisher is not required for all these actions when specifying a link to the journal.
Authors retain the right to distribute their article in other sources (for example, in the institutional archive, social networks, etc.) with a mandatory link to its original publication in this journal.
Privacy policy
Information about authors – their names, affiliation, contacts, information about their position and academic degree as well as links to the IDs of authors 'profiles in international databases are placed in the article in the section "Information about authors".
Members of the editorial board of the journal «Chemical Bulletin of Kazakh National University» does not disclose information about the manuscript accepted for review before its publication to third parties, except for appointed reviewers. Also, the editorial board does not disclose information about reviewers to authors and other persons.
